Going "Astray" and "Ignorance" is basically the same Hebrew and Greek Words

Mat 18:12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

"Astray" from the strong's:

http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G4105&t=KJV

1) to cause to stray, to lead astray, lead aside from the right way

a) to go astray, wander, roam about

2) metaph.

a) to lead away from the truth, to lead into error, to deceive b) to be led into error c) to be led aside from the path of virtue, to go astray, sin d) to sever or fall away from the truth 1) of heretics e) to be led away into error and sin.

I don't think this covers willful beligerence towards God! This sheep that went astray did so accidentally. To me this sounds like sound doctrine!

Further more we have this: Hebrews 9:7 "But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:"

"Errors" here is also translated into "sins of ignorance"

This is the NIV: "But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance." (I am quoting from the NIV simply because it is the correct translation as verified by the Strong's Concordance.)

Strong's Concordance for "errors" in Hebrews 9:7 (KJV): "

1) a sin committed through ignorance or thoughtlessness"

Check out the OT: "And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him." Number 15:28

Hebrews 10:26: "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"

Job 28:28 "And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom; and to depart from evil [is] understanding."

1 john 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

"hmmmm, define "ignorance." i know that poisoning your body in ignorance (welcome swine flu vaccine) still leads you down the same path as one who studies the subject and still chooses to get it...or by "ignorance" are you indicating a more child-like stupidity, like cheating at cards?"

according to Strong's:

"Ignorantly"

1) to go astray, err, commit sin or errora) (Qal)... Read More1) to err (mentally)

2) to sin (ignorantly or inadvertently)

It's good to look at other verses that speak of ignorance in context.

Like Deu 19:4: "And this [is] the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past."

or

1Ti 1:13 "Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy , because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief."

This even shows further WHY Paul received forgiveness. He "obtained mercy, because" he did it in ignorance.

I believe this is a very important lesson for Christians. 2 minutes ago · Delete

  1. Do you believe all adventist are deceived cause their are alot of good adventist out there and they know alot of truth. The only reason for their dietary restrictions is because it is healthy. Adventist do not condone meat at all however they do not embrace substantial eating of meat for health reasons. Just because Ellen G White has an obelisk on her grave does not make her a pagan in any way. She did not jump out of her grave and put that their she was a good person. Their are alot of good adventist. I love alot of your stuff and I my self am learning alot as an adventist. Though I also am learning from my hebrew brothers about the jewish faith. Does that make me the great satan just because I like to learn. I believe like my pastor if it is in the bible accept it if its not throw it out bottom line. What SDA pastors showed you false docturine cause I guarantee you mine won't he is the nicest down to earth individual you will meet. I will say you are right about the vatican on alot of fronts and yes alot of adventist seen the videos of Albert Rivera about Samuel Bacchiochi. Many of us are afraid of any vatican infiltration and as a matter of fact it scares us. I love the sabbath and yes it seems like the sabbath is the only commandment adventist seem to push but is not. The sabbath is going to be the mark that Rome will use to control the way people worship. I believe it is going to be important to future events. Canon 29 of the council of Laodicea anathemitized anyone who kept the sabbath and forced them to work. The church of Rome has for years tried to prevent any christian much less Jews from keeping this day. This is a shame that people can't keep what they believe conciously because someone tries to take that right away from them. Don't lump all adventist into a corner and say they are all false cause I surely won't do that to you.
